Traditionally valued for lifting the spirits and strengthening the heart, its medicine extends to the brain, where contemporary research has explored its relationship with mood, cognition, memory and neuroprotection.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn this workshop, we will spend an evening getting to know saffron more closely, tracing the traditional knowledge surrounding the plant alongside our contemporary understanding of its medicine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSaffron in Practice\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe will explore:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e• its energetics and qualities\u003cbr\u003e• its core medicinal actions and constituents\u003cbr\u003e• its affinity for the heart, brain and nervous system\u003cbr\u003e• its traditional use as an uplifting and restorative medicine\u003cbr\u003e• contemporary research on mood, anxiety, cognition and memory\u003cbr\u003e• its antioxidant, inflammation modulating and neuroprotective actions\u003cbr\u003e• traditional uses across regional healing modalities including Traditional Islamic Medicine\u003cbr\u003e• its applications in women’s and reproductive health\u003cbr\u003e• dosage, safety and methods of preparation\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlongside our study, we will experience saffron through taste, scent and preparation, learning how to work with this precious medicine in practice.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGather With Us\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe workshop will take place at hikma rituals, our herbal apothecary and gathering space in Alserkal Avenue - a place for those drawn to the plants to gather, study and practise together.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur workshops bring traditional botanical knowledge into conversation with contemporary herbal practice, while making space for sensory study, preparation and exchange.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe’ll gather for an evening of plant medicine, practice and community.
