The Geometry of Flowers
The Sacred Geometry of Flowers
Flowers hold an extraordinary geometry.
From the unfolding of petals to the radial patterns of blossoms, the natural world reveals forms shaped by repetition, proportion and symmetry.
In this workshop, we will explore six-fold symmetry and the Seed of Life, discovering how the simple movement of a compass can give rise to intricate floral forms.
What We’ll Explore
Beginning with just a compass, ruler and pencil, you’ll be guided step by step through the foundations of geometric construction. We’ll learn how circles intersect and repeat to create the Seed of Life, and how this ancient geometric framework can become the foundation for a multitude of floral patterns.
From this underlying structure, we’ll begin to explore more freely, working with overlapping circles, repeating forms and carefully placed lines to create your own geometric flowers. In the final part of the workshop, geometry becomes art. You’ll bring your flower to life through colour, pattern and your own creative expression, leaving with a finished piece that is uniquely yours.
No previous experience with geometry or drawing is needed. Simply come with curiosity and a willingness to discover the patterns held within the natural world.
